Chelsey Zimmerman is a music teacher and classical/Irish traditional flutist from Connecticut in the United States. She graduated from Marywood University in Pennsylvania with her Bachelors degree in Music Education in 2013. Chelsey then moved to Florida to teach primary school music for four years. In Florida, she met Irish musicians who sparked her interest in Irish traditional music. In 2017, she decided to move to Ireland complete her Masters degree in Irish Music Studies at the University of Limerick. While in Limerick, she taught ‘Sound Saturdays,’ an introductory music education program for children ages 3-6 at the Peter Dee Academy of Music. For the past year, Chelsey has been teaching secondary music in Clara, Co. Offaly. Chelsey regularly plays in local traditional music sessions around Ireland and is hoping to start work on her doctorate degree in the near future.
