Limerick Jazz Festival 2023 will run from 20th-24th September this year with another outstanding array of Irish and International jazz artists. This year’s festival has a particular focus on female jazz artists and features Honor Heffernan and Carol Nelson from Ireland, along with vocalist Beverly Beirne and star saxophonist Camilla George from the UK.
Other headliners include an all-star quintet led by multi-award-winning UK saxophonist and composer Tim Garland featuring Jason Rebello on keyboards, the Conor Guilfoyle group who will recreate the classic big band recording “Art Pepper plus Eleven” and a group led by a locally based musician with a national profile, guitarist Joe O’Callaghan.
The ever-popular Sunday afternoon triple bill concert in Dolan’s Warehouse this year features the Lee Meehan Quintet, the Nigel Mooney Quartet featuring Jean Toussaint and pianist Nils Kavanagh, Young Irish Jazz Musician 2022.
John Daly, Chair of Limerick Jazz Society said
“We are really looking forward to next September when we will be presenting our 12th Limerick Jazz Festival. We had a great bounce-back in 2022 with an all-live programme and this year’s exciting line-up builds on that success. As well as our headline acts there will lots of festival fringe events around different venues in the city so we will be reaching as many people as possible. As always, we’re very grateful to the Arts Council and Limerick City and County Council for their support.”
