A long-standing contributor to the London scene recently relocated to Ireland, Brian Priestley led his own groups since the 1970s and also has a reputation as solo pianist, appearing as such at the 2007 Guinness Jazz Festival in Cork. He’s arranged for Humphrey Lyttelton and the Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra, while his books of piano transcriptions included over 50 different pianIst.
Brian, a regular tutor at Sligo Jazz Project, has lectured on jazz history at various London conservatoires, and has written several books including biographies of Charles Mingus and Charlie Parker. He is a regular contributor to Jazzwise, the UK’s premier jazz magazine. Brian hosts his own jazz programme on Radio Kerry on Wednesdays 9pm called “Thats Jazz” – www.radiokerry.ie
